Here is an interesting perspective have you ever been too busy to dress yourself in the morning before rushing out to meet your myriad responsibilities? Have you ever gone out in your pajamas (assuming you wear them)? Have you ever been too busy to brush your teeth; feed the kids; buy cigarettes; drink coffee; complain to your colleagues about how stressed you are or go to the toilet? Absurd? You bet!
Those things that are important to us, or vital for our perceived state of well-being or enjoyable to us get done seemingly by themselves. We do not plan coffee-toilet-smoke breaks, schedule water-machine gossip/whinge sessions with office confidants or make time to read the newspaper funnies. These things get done anyway, regardless of how hectic we are.
Time is NOT the issue energy is! According to Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz in their book The Power of Full Engagement. Time is finite, energy is infinite. Bill Gates, Tony Robbins, Oprah and Madiba are all limited to 24-hour days, just the same as you and me. Yet astonishingly prodigious results are consistently churned out in any average day. While the rest of us seem to consume energy these pink Duracell bunnies seem to generate limitless resources of energy.
We burn energy on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels, thus a coordinated balance of factors contributes to the efficient management of our energy resources. Correct nutrition, exercise and rest play a key role in our physical energy levels. Overweight people tend to burn excessively wasteful amounts of energy. Emotional drains include fears, doubts, insecurities as well as angry, resentful and jealous reactions. Negative thinking, poor self-image, suspicion and lack of direction contribute to depleted mental energy reserves. Spiritual disconnectedness and the absence of meaning and purpose in our lives can also play havoc with our energy levels.
We live in an expanding universe. Abundant energy surrounds us. We enjoy the freedom to tap into it or disconnect from it. Our choice!
